Designed for R&D and cGMP scale-up, the Finesse SmartRocker allows the user to configure the rocking motion from a smooth waveform that minimizes shear force for sensitive cell lines to an aggressive motion that maximizes oxygen transfer for robust cells having high oxygen consumption.
SmartRockers are controlled by Finesse G3Lab Universal controllers (lab or GMP version) that consists of a utility tower, a TruFlow® gas manifold and Finesse TruBio® software. This turn-key package provides a complete solution for seed train or small scale production applications.
Each Finesse SmartBag bioprocess container holds a SmartPuck comprising three sensors (pH, dissolved oxygen, and temperature) that monitor the cell growth process. These process measurements are utilized by the Finesse G3Lab Utility Tower to control the critical cell culture parameters. Such closed loop feedback control allows the cell growth process to be optimized for cell density, viability, and productivity.

The SmartBag bio-process container is currently available in three (3) sizes:
10L, 20L, and 50L. Each volume has a standard configuration but can be
customized if required.
SmartBags are manufactured using a multi layer, polyolefin-based, slip-agent
free film. This film provides superior extractables and leachables profiles,
water vapor and oxygen barriers, and complete fluid integrity.
SmartBags are sterilized using gamma radiation (25 to 40 kGy) with
radiation indicators affixed to each bag. Lot radiation information is
available on request. Each lot is tested for bacterial endotoxins; test
results must be below 0.125 EU/ml for release.
Each SmartBag is delivered with all relevant certificates and
conforms to USP Class VI specifications.
SmartBags are equipped with a SmartPuck that incorporates sensors for pH,
dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature. The SmartPuck leverages the technology
behind TruFluor® pH and DO sensors in a compact pre-calibrated assembly that
uses a Finesse SmartChip™ to provide accurate, drift-free measurements. It also incorporates the TruFluor 316L stainless steel thermal window for highly accurate temperature readings. The SmartReader uses advanced optical components including
large-area photodiodes that minimize photo-degradation of the active pH and DO sensing elements.
The SmartRocker tray is designed to hold a 50L SmartBag. The optional tray insert
allows the use of smaller bags. Quickly and easily fitted into the rocker tray, it holds
10L or 20L bags securely.
Load Cell Insert
An optional Load Cell can be inserted underneath the rocker tray, enabling the
user to monitor the SmartBag to prevent over-filling and consequent spillage.
The Load Cell cable plugs into the G3Lab Universal controller to provide full
monitoring from the Monitor Page of the controller software.
Protect the bag and its fittings with the optional cover. Lightweight and easily
installed or removed, the cover will prevent accidental disruption of fittings
or cables in a busy laboratory environment.
