pH+dO2 SmartPuck Sensor and SmartBag Reader

The Finesse pH+d02 SmartPuck Sensor contains single-use sensors for dissolved oxygen, pH, and temperature. Our SmartPuck Sensor leverages the technology behind TruFluor® pH and DO in a compact assembly that is pre-calibrated using a SmartChip™ and provides accurate, drift-free, in-situ measurements. The combined pH and DO optical SmartBag Reader™ uses advanced optical components including a large area photodiode that minimizes photo-degradation of the active pH and DO sensing elements. The SmartPuck Sensor also leverages the TruFluor temperature 316L stainless steel thermal window for highly stable readings.

Smart Calibration

SmartChip: All Finesse SmartPuck Sensors contain an embedded gamma radiation resistant SmartChip that holds factory calibration data and manufacturing lot and serial numbers which can be part of the batch record if used with the blade transmitter.

SmartBag Reader: Each optical SmartBag Reader is normalized to a traceable standard at the factory. For the best measurement results, the user can perform 1-point standardization or a 2-point calibration using an off-line reference analyzer.

SmartReaders Minimize Drift and Photo-Degradation

pH+dO2 SmartBag readers utilize a patented design that minimizes photo-degradation of the active sensing element. The design has been optimized to provide accurate in-situ measurement of pH and dissolved oxygen using phase fluorometric detection in real-time. Now these capabilities are combined in the SmartBag Reader for the SmartPuck Sensor that enables pH, pO2, and temperature readings from a single sensor designed to enable accurate readings from even small volumes.

The SmartPuck Sensor is welded into the single-use SmartBag and eliminates the need for sterile connectors and their associated complications such as leakage and batch contamination. All wetted materials of the SmartPuck Sensor are USP class VI compliant and animal derived component free (ADCF) and being identical to TruFluor®, allow direct measurement comparisons and scale-up from 10L rocker bags to 2,000L stirred-tank single-use bioreactors.

TruFluor® External Transmitter

The TruFluor® DO external transmitter is a remote pipe or panel mounted instrument which is plug-and-play with any TruFluor® DO SmartReader. All external transmitters allow automatic entry of calibration and traceability data from the sheath SmartChip and provide diagnostics. Output signals for DO and temperature are all analog (4 to 20 mA).

TruFluor® Blade Transmitter

TruFluor® digital transmitter blades are mounted in a Finesse bioreactor controller and do not have a display or keypad. All blades provide automatic input of calibration data from sheaths containing a SmartChip and provide detailed diagnostics to the bioreactor control system. The Virtual Transmitter module in Finesse TruBio® software allows full access to all of the blade’s functions, simulates a physical transmitter, and adds alarms and connectivity monitoring capability.
